JUDGING PEOPLE

Judging People

Matt. 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."
Three points about the context of this verse.
  1. Pharisees were judging men according to themselves.
  2. Believers are not yet fit to reign with Christ [2 Tim. 2:12] sinlessness is required-"He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone."} When Jesus said that, He was referring to condemnation. You have no right to condemn people to hell or reward them with heaven. That judgment belongs to God alone.
  3. But to judge-that is, evaluate or discern-wrongdoing is both your right and responsibility.
A spiritual person makes sound judgments on all matters, including those relating to interpersonal problems. Only those who are immature in the Word of God think that there are no judgments of any kind to take place in the Christians life. Daily we make choices even with those we associate with. It takes judgment of the facts to make those decisions.

[1 Cor. 2:15] But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.
[Phil. 1:9-10] And this I pray , that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ.

All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. A spiritual man is the only man on this earth that can properly discern issues.

John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. David’s father judged according to appearance and David was being passed by in 1 Sam. 16:11. Appearances may be deceitful.
Judgment needs to be free of prejudice, and which, considering things as they are, draws true conclusions.
