PARABLES OF JESUS?

Parables
[Matt. 13:10, 36; Mark 4:33-34]

Twenty-nine recorded in the N.T. Of these, 17 definitely mention the Kingdom of God, and are declared to be in exposition of it. Those in Matthew 13 specifically deal with the subject. The context of all the rest reveals the fact that they are related to the thought of the Kingdom; and in the whole of them the Kingdom conception is the master idea. Whenever He uttered a parable, in His own mind there was the vision of the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 13 parables, which He delivered to the multitudes and partly to His own disciples, are a revelation of the processes of the Kingdom through a certain period.
Teachings concerning the Kingdom but taught in such a way to leave it a mystery to the unsaved. 'Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.' Matt. 7:6 In John 2:24 Jesus would not commit Himself to many because of their lack of true faith.
