ETERNAL SECURITY

ETERNAL SECURITY

Are you sure? Can you be sure? What makes you so sure?

Eph. 1:13 “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”
1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.”
John 10:28 “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

This sealing is the sign of a covenant and identified with Spirit Baptism in Acts 1:4-5. The Holy Spirit takes up residence for the giving of a present blessing but also with the future consummation in mind. When He takes up His dwelling place in the heart of the trusting soul and imparts life, that life is the prophecy and the promise of the eventuality. He marks His possession and outworks in that life. Because God Himself says we have eternal life in 1 John 5:13, that allows a person to say I know I have eternal life. Why? Because God says I do and for one to say that isn’t enough is in essence calling Him a liar. His promise of the Holy Spirit’s work abides with us forever. Need any more reasons?
No one can take you out of His hands. Not even yourself.

ETERNAL LIFE Eternal life comes from Jesus Christ Who was life Himself (John 1:4). He was resurrected in order to share that life. Eternal life has a beginning in us but not Him Who shared it with us, but to keep the word accurate it has no end. Eternal Life is not a condition which man comes to after death, but that mystic and wonderful life which is in all the ages past, present, and future. It is the infinite force at the back of everything. The force which man is to fight against fear and on the side of faith is that of the appropriation of eternal life (1 Tim 6:12). “lay hold on eternal life,”  Eternal life is not a quantity but a quality. It is not merely life which continues but life that continues forever.
