LAW AND LOVE

LAW AND LOVE

Law is found to be the expression of love when it is obeyed. Obedience to the command of Christ produces results in the life that demonstrates the love which inspired the command.

John 14:15 "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."

The love of God goes beyond the 10 commandments because He left us more commandments in the NT, and not associated with Biblical law. It is surprising how many attend the services of the church when the NT commandments are practiced  The church member obviously doesn't think that attending these services proves their love to the One Who left us these commands. He preferences two of them declaring His total authority in both heaven and earth. (Matt 28:18; John 13:3.)

The Lord is the Author of the law born of love which has as its intention the production of love. Cf. Matt. 22:36-40.
"Teacher , which is the great commandment in the Law?"  37 And He said to him, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'  38 "This is the great and foremost commandment." "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

The laws purpose was temporary and was to end itself when that purpose was fulfilled. Gal. 3:23-25. It was added because of transgressions.

Christ came that we might be set free from the law. But some return to transgressions. Gal. 2:18.
