CATHOLIC DOGMA

CATHOLIC DOGMA

Purgatory and the Sacrifice of the Mass

  • Penance to pay for sins (venial)
  • Add traditions to replace word
  • Substitute Pope for the Headship of Christ
  • Sustitute Mary for His Mediation Ministry
  • Substitute Confessional box to replace His High Priestly ministry
  • Use their own righteousness to replace His
  • Use merit to replace grace
  • Use their own work to replace His redemptive work
  • Substitute purgatory to replace heaven and hell
-They say that God loves you so much He added purgatory
-Indulgences to shorten time in purgatory
-Christ's work was insufficient to present His bride spotless before His Father
-One must achieve holiness necessary to be presented blameless.

Christ's death accomplished on the Cross these things-
  1. The complete price
  2. Shed His blood for without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin
  3. Substitute for the sinner whether they accept that or not- (whole world)
  4. Satisfy the wrath of the Father (propitiation)
  5. Atones (reconciliation)
  6. Redeems us from sins results
  7. Once for all time for all sin (no more sacrifice for sins) Heb. 1:3; Heb. 10:10, 12

They use these verses for justification of purgatory.
  • 2 Mac 12:40-46 One of the books not included in the Jewish canon because of historical, graphical, and theological errors-what they commander found was an instument around their neck which was idolatrous and a mortal sin of idolatry. Besides what Heb. 9:27 says contradicts what this book teaches which is why the Jews never included this book in their canon. Salvation is of the Jews and this book was given to them from God.
  • 1 Cor 3:13-15 Man is not be9ing judged but his work John 5:27-29
  • 1 Pet 1:7 Faith is tested and strengthened-trials while alive
  • Luke 12:59 infinite debt - last cent which only Christ can pay
  • Matt 12:32 unforgiveable sin-never forgiven-this age or the next
  • Rev 21:27 nothing unclean will enter the kingdom of God on earth

Scripture which contradict
  • Col 1:22
  • Heb. 1:3
  • Heb. 7:25
  • Heb. 9:22
  • Titus 2:14
  • 1 John 1:7
