Ambition
True and False
Jer. 45:5 `But you, are you seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I am going to bring disaster on all flesh,' declares the LORD, `but I will give your life to you as booty in all the places where you may go.'
Ambition which is self-centered is Satanic and copies the ambition of Lucifer. True ambition has the whole society in vision and its well-being sought after.
Satan's original sin was an act of rebellion against the constituted authority of God and was motivated by a covetous desire to appropriate that very sovereignty for himself. Because of this sin, which brought about the fall of Satan, a kingdom over which Satan rules was formed in opposition to the kingdom over which God rules.
Satan pictured as the god of this age (2 Cor. 4:4), the prince of the power of the air (Eph. 2:2), and the possessor of the kingdoms of the world (Matt. 4:8-9). Most follow him and then deny he actually exists.
From the outset of God's program to manifest His sovereignty by his rule in this earthly sphere until the consummation of that program when universal sovereignty is acknowledged (1 Cor. 15:24), there has been one continuous connected, progressive development of that program. The whole program is called the theocratic kingdom, the rule of God through a divinely chosen representative who speaks and acts for God; a rule which has special reference to the human race, although it finally embraces the universe; and its Mediatorial ruler is always a member of the human race. Christ qualifies.
