MORALITY AND OUR LEGAL SYSTEM

MORALITY & OUR LEGAL SYSTEM

"But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted."  1 Tim. 1:8-10
"Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven."  Matt. 5:3
When dealing with law Christ declared that law is spiritual, and that there is no morality which is final and sufficient, other than the law inspired by religion. Our system begs different. Morality must be spiritual. There is no challenge to immorality other than religion. Men endeavor to challenge immorality by all sorts of traditions, rules, and regulations; and to check vulgar conduct by legislation.  Do men today believe that the Kingdom of God is to be possessed by poverty of spirit in the sense in which our Lord used the word? Men who sense our legal systems failure have spirits far from a poverty level as Christ taught. They come into a courtroom bold at times. Caught but by no means sorry or repentant. The victims fail to receive the protection and justice that law is to afford.
They put Christ on the Cross because He taught these ideals and they refused to accept them. He knew the truth of law and how men were even in His day making it to fail in its purpose. He was a Teacher contradicting all the conceptions upon which they were basing conduct; saying to them, repent, change your minds concerning these conceptions; your works and deeds are wrong because your outlook is wrong, and your concepts are wrong. They would not hear and obey His command to repent, and the only alternative from their standpoint was that of silencing His voice, and putting Him away to death. Anyone who follows His concepts are at this point saved from the same outcome, at least for now.
As our legal system takes away the moral purpose of law and backdrop of all law, it more and more fails to protect the innocent individuals who are our legal systems (courts and judges) victims.
