HIGH PRIEST INTERCESSION

High Priestly Intercession

Why would Jesus, Who is God need to intercede for the saints after being received back to the third heaven? He does this as the method to attain the unity of His church here on earth. "...I pray neither for these only, but for them also..." Bases His intercession upon His own works accomplished.

He is acting as the Son of Man Who while on earth did the same, still doing in heaven. Praying according to the Son of Man was an act of complete dependence on the Father. He still prays in that manner continuously.

Cf. Mark 1:35  35 In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.
Heb. 7:25  25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

The Levites were not placed in office by an oath; therefore their system was divinely temporary. Jesus was [Heb. 7:11-28] placed into His office with an oath [vs. 21]. This is a settled matter forever.

Christ's high priesthood is compared and contrasted with Aaron's. While Aaron is called by God, he has only a partial and transitory ministry, Christ's being of a different intercession for mankind.
