DEATH

Death
Mark 5:39
2 Cor. 5:8

"And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth." Mark 5:39Death is a door, certainly not the end. Mark gives us the Lord's outlook on death. Death of the body is not cessation of being. In this account she was not dead, but alive. As to the consciousness of earthly things she was asleep. While earlier in her days and asleep she was quite unconscious that her parents were near her, and could not communicate with her unless they awaken her ending her condition of sleep. From ordinary sleep they could awaken her, from this deeper sleep, only He could.
2 Corinthians 5:8 teaches that for the believer death is now my slave "we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord."
3 Deaths in the Bible:
Physical Gen. 35:18
Spiritual Isa. 59:2
Second Rev. 20:13
Death causes separation 2 Thess. 1:9 (i.e. Marriage gone bad)
Separation of the body and spirit Luke 8:52-55
Grace overpowers the last enemy. James 1:11 taken from Psalms 103:15-17 "As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more; and its place acknowledges it no longer. But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him." Cf. Isa 40:7-8, 29
