Contending for “The” Faith
Jude 3
Jude is the book on apostasy. Jude warns against it. His message was that most people professing to be following Christ imitate the economics of the world. They don't preach false doctrine with their mouths but they live it with their lives. They maintain a comfort level with the unsaved around them; suffering for Christ has little meaning to them.
Jude makes every effort to write them about the common (on paper) salvation and made appeal that they contend earnestly for ”the faith” which has been finalized and by grace delivered to the saints. Thank God He told us what He expects from us.
The faith today is not denied mostly by intellectual dissent but by practical disobedience.
There are many in the pulpits today who preach an easy gospel and many choose that path of comfort for their itching ears. The difficult life that Christ and His apostles lived in a demon possessed society, which has arrived again just as in the days of Noah, has no part in the normal supposed Christian life today. They are not contending for the faith.
