FINALLY THERE MUST BE THE ADMINISTRATION OF RECOMPENSE

THERE MUST FINALLY BE THE ADMINISTRATION OF RECOMPENSE

"Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:"  Rom. 2:6-10
  • This is not to be Confused with the Reception of Salvation on the one Hand or Lostness on the Other
Salvation is by grace and not works.
Lostness is the rejection of salvation in Christ.
  •  This is the Actual Requital in Kind and Degree for Deeds Performed
Gal. 6:7-10 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
  • This Consists in Reward in its Proper Degree for the Righteous
1 Cor. 3:14, 15 "If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."
2 Cor. 5:10 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."
  • This Consists in Retribution in its Proper Degree for the Wicked
Rev. 20:12, 13 "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works."

  • This does not Consist in a Description of the Nature of Recompense in either Case
