WHY JOHN 13 SUPPER WASN'T PASSOVER

Why John 13 Supper Wasn’t the Passover

The stipulation of the Old Testament law provided that this feast began on the opening of the 15th day of the month.  The lamb was to be kept till the 14th and killed about three o'clock. The lamb shall be eaten after sundown, and nothing shall remain till the morning. The conclusion must be that Christ instituted this communion, one day before the Passover. Christ would not have been the Passover ahead of time nor out of the prescribed rules.  Christ came to fulfill the law not to break it.
The supernatural plea governing Christ is about to be consummated.  It is especially significant that this is said to have a relationship to the Passover feast.  After all, Christ is the great Passover lamb in at the appointed hour; you will die and thus fulfill the age long type. As the Passover feast was yet future. John clearly states that early the next morning was to be the Passover feast. Every one of the Gospel writers declares the Last Supper in events even up to the burial of Christ was on the day of preparation. Christ himself declares that he would not eat the Passover feast. Enough has been said.
