Blessings of God To The Whole Earth
One of the first acts of the Divine Government when the Kingdom is finally established on this earth will be a settlement of the Jewish problem. It is utterly unrealistic to deny that there is such a problem, and has been ever since the end of the historical Theocracy and the worldwide dispersion of the chosen nation. The frequent anti-Semitic outbursts, from Haman to Hitler, represent the attempts of wicked men to solve this problem by irrational and cruel means. Even the Jewish people themselves bear witnesses as to the existence of the problem, for they cannot even agree among themselves on what ought to be done. Bitter disputes exist among them: as, for example, the conflict between the Zionistic and anti-Zionistic parties and between the religious and irreligious groups. And this Jewish problem, however much the fact may be cloaked by denial or controls, is related vitally to the political problems of the world. It is not that the Jew is worse or better than other men. But this nation, in the good purpose of God, is an appointed means for the future well-being of the world: "In thee shall all families of the earth be blessed" (Gen. 12:3). Therefore, until Israel is where he ought to be, both religiously and politically, there can be no thorough and permanent solution of the international problems.
Historically, the people of Israel have not been wholly without friends. Moved by widely different motives, various governments have come to their aid. Recent attempts to help them, on the part of England and the United States, have raised a storm of irreconcilable protest from the Arab nations and brought into the Near East a fresh and ominous interest of Russian Communism, Iranian and Saudi Muslim conflicts, which is always fishing in troubled waters. At present no solution of the political problem is in sight. Yet without some solution the cause of world peace will remain in constant jeopardy.
For these reasons the Old Testament prophets give a prominent place to the political welfare of Israel. In the coming Kingdom, the dispersed of the nation will not only be gathered back into their own land and spiritually cleansed, but the ancient internal rupture will be healed. God promises, "I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all" (Ezek. 37:21-22). Apart from the fulfillment of these divine conditions, the nation of Israel cannot fully serve the divine purpose. There is also a frank recognition of the problem and its solution in Zechariah: "And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen [nations], O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing" (Zech. 8:13). Furthermore, in that day, when the political unification and supremacy of Israel have been firmly established by divine power, all nations will gladly recognize the benefits of such an arrangement: "In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you" (Zech. 8:23).
