THE PERMANENCE OF THE INCARNATION

The Permanence of the Incarnation is the Special Thing
"And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle."

This is encouragement to men to know that our flesh is still in the Godhead. We may then expect that he will continue to be merciful and sympathizing. This is the guarantee that we can see God, that we shall yet reach the place when we are glorified. The entire ministry of Christ in behalf of a lost world is in flesh (1 John 4:1-3).
4:1 "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."
"Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:"
"And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."
This vision of John parallels the vision of other men: Stephen saw the glorified man Christ Jesus (Acts 7:54-56). Paul saw Jesus glorified and yet human (Heb. 2:9).
54  "When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth."
55 "But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,"
56 "And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God."
9  "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."
John now sees him as the glorified Son of man (Rev. 1:13).
"And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle."
