CHRIST'S TESTIMONY TO THE NEW
TESTAMENT
""I have yet many things to say unto you."
1. Was
any of the N.T. written while Christ was on earth? Probably not as far as we
know. Christ's only writing was on the ground as recorded in John 8:1-11.
Wrote
on the ground in one case, He named some names, wrote some sins, oldest first
and youngest last.
Is Christ a competent witness to the Inspiration of Scripture before it was written? The Christian says yes, for to deny this is to deny His deity and Divine Sonship. Christ not only had foreknowledge but also the power to bring it to pass.
When Christ went to His death, He declared He was leaving Revelation unfinished. Why? The problem was that of unprepared minds.
John 16:12 "I have yet many things to say unto you." His own words were not complete.
Leaves us accountable and responsible for His words He spoke.
John 13:7a "What I do thou knowest not now." The
meaning of His own acts were not explained. Not the actions He was performing
but the significance and meaning were not known.
He promised that this Revelation would be completed at a certain time.
John 16:25 (ASV) "I have spoken to you in dark sayings...but the hour cometh when I will tell you plainly of the Father."
This brought satisfaction to His mystified friends.
John 16:13a (ASV) "When the Holy Spirit is come he will
guide you into all the truth." - that is, the body of written revelation.
