NON-RESISTANCE HARMONIZES WITH THE ENTIRE NEW TESTAMENT

THE DOCTRINE OF NON-RESISTANCE HARMONIZES WITH THE ENTIRE TEACHING OF THE NEW TESTAMENT

lc. It harmonizes with the life and ministry of Christ while on earth.
-Matt. 1:21 His name is called Jesus because he will save his people.
-Luke 2:10-11 At His coming there was good news for all people.
-Luke 9:54-56 Christ came to save men's lives and not to destroy.
-Luke 19:10 Christ came to seek and save the lost.
-Acts 10:38 "Who went about doing good, and healing."
-1 Pet. 2:21-24 "Reviled not again...threatened: not....bare our sins."

Notes:
The two occasions when Christ cleansed the temple are fore-gleams of the vengeance he will inflect when He comes to execute wrath.
+John 2:13-16; Matt. 21:12-13. But His conduct does not necessarily constitute an example for believers at every point.    (Cf. 1 Pet. 2:21 with vss. 18-24.)

2c. It harmonizes with the divine program of eschatology, in the New Testament.
-Vengeance belongs to the Lord (Rom. 12:19; 1 Thess. 4:6; Heb. 10:30).
-Recompense for evil is at the coming of the Lord (2 Thess 1:5-9; James 5:7-9).
-The Revelation of Christ will be the just recompense (Rev. 19:11-21).
-Because Vengeance is yet future and in the hands of the Lord, it is right that believers should be patient unto the coming of the Lord. (James 5:7-9).

3c. It harmonizes with the great plan Christ laid out for His church.

ld. Christ's program for the church is witnessing for Him to the salvation of souls.
-Acts 1:8 with Matt. 28:19

This is the supreme business of the church. In Acts 1:8, Christ proposed this in the place of an earthly kingdom (6-7), which will come in its appointed season.

2d. Christ's program for the church involves present day conduct which He has commanded for all believers.
-Matt. 28:20 the "all things whatsoever I have commanded you" included non-resistance. But this is for believers and not for nations or governments.

3d. Christ's program for the church points men to the coming of Christ and to things above.
-John 14:1-3; Col. 3:1-4; Heb. 11:10, 13-16; 13:13-14

4c. It harmonizes with various commands which Christ gave to His church and could not otherwise be carried out.

ld. Non-resistance harmonizes with the command to love enemies. Matt 5:44; Luke 6:27; Rom. 12:20; 13:8-10.

2d. Non-resistance harmonizes with the command to return good for evil. Rom. 12:17, 21; 1 Pet. 3:9.

3d. Non-resistance harmonizes with the command to do good to all men. Rom. 12:17; Gal. 6:10.

4d. Non-resistance harmonizes with the command to make no provision for the flesh.
-Rom. 13:13-14.

5d. Non-resistance harmonizes with the command to follow after things which make for peace.
-Rom. 12:18; 14:19
-That includes the temptation to purchase guns to protect yourself and the family.
