The Substance of the Resurrection Body
The resurrection body need not contain a single particle of the body that was laid away in the tomb. A body can be the same in identity even though it be totally different in substance.
1 Cor. 15:37 "Thou soweth not that body that shall be, but bare grain."
They used to say that the particles change periodically in the body every seven years. But I have heard that advances in medical science has led to the conclusion that this happens every year or oftener than that. But even with this change of particles, the identity remains the same. Scars give evidence of this. Also the voice; features. That is, identity is based upon a principle of organization, even though substance changes.
1 Cor. 15:36-38 suggests a principle of continuity; though this is not an analogy, it does illustrate.
"Thou fool, that which thou sows is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sows, thou sows not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God gives it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body."
That this principle of organization and continuity is constantly in operation is evident from any number of things. For every person there is something apparently that constitutes the normal for maturity. So the parts of the body stop growing. Whenever they pass a general average there is the freak.
