The Nature of the Resurrection Body
1 Cor. 15:44 declares that this body is spiritual. This does not mean a body of spirit. "It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body."At resurrection the spirit is endowed with a new and indissoluble relation to the material body (Rom 6:9). "Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him."
Quickening of the spirit spoken of in John 5:26 (source of life to others). "For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;"
Become a life-giving spirit.
Become a spiritual, pneumatical person 1 Cor. 15:44 no longer able to suffer separation (Rev 1:18, Rom 6:9). "It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body." "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." "Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him."
i.e. His kingdom is without end Heb 5:6, a priest forever. "As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec."
Resurrection was the Incarnate Son's revelation of the heavenly man. The Lord was His own witness to His resurrection, showing forth His own glory, the Head of a new creation-
1. comprised of 3 parts and immortal.
2. The glory of the immortal man emits letting others see Matt 17:3, 2 Pet 1:17. "And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him." "For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
3. This is true of the church also Matt 13:43, whereby we now have a body of humiliation but at our resurrection we shall be just like Him. Perfect life making revelations to reasonable beings making closer communion possible with the Father and blessedness. "Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear."
4. Making possible a perfect doing the will of the Father both in worship and service for we are priests and kings with Him.
The natural body is one of flesh and bones in which the life giving element and the sustaining principle is in the blood. Cf. Lev. 17:11. "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."
The spiritual body is a body of flesh and bones in which the life sustaining principle is no longer blood, but is the presence of the spirit of God. Cf. Rom. 8:11. "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."
Christ's body as born of Mary was a natural body in which there was blood to sustain it. But one day he shed his blood. Cf. Matt. 20:28 "To give his life (psyche) a ransom for many."
Christ's body when he rose from the dead was flesh and bone (Luke 24:39) that was made alive and sustained not by blood, but by the Spirit (Rom. 8:11).
The Spirit of God is the fountain of eternal youth. When we get our resurrection bodies, we shall have equality with the angels. Luke 20:36 declares that in the resurrection, there will be no sex for propagation, and there will be no need for that for there will be no death. "Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection."
