Kingdom Of
Heaven
The kingdom of God is distinguished from the
kingdom of heaven (Matt. 3:2) in 5
respects. The Kingdom Of God is universal, including all moral intelligences
willingly subject to the will of God, whether angels, the Church, or saints of the
past or future dispensations [Luke
13:28-29; Heb. 12:22-23]; while the Kingdom Of Heaven is Messianic, Mediatorial,
and Davidic, and has for its object the
establishment of the kingdom of God in the earth [Matt. 3:2; 1 Cor. 15:24-25].
How little we know of the heaven
that lies beyond, of all that wonderful region, place, locality, where are
unfallen angels and the spirits of just men made perfect. But Christ taught us
to pray that the laws that govern them, the reason for the things they do, the
master-passion of all their activity, may become the laws, the reason, and the
master-passion governing the affairs of this world of ours. And it shall
finally when Christ comes back to earth.
