THE INAUGURATION OF THE KINGDOM PROVIDES THE OCCASION FOR THIS JUDGMENT
"When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats." Matt. 25:31-32
- The Period of this Judgment is Clearly Associated with the Inauguration of the Kingdom
"When . . . then." This indicates that we are dealing with time.
"The Son of Man shall come" - Arrival and presence.
"In his glory" - Brilliant outshining of deity. Cf. Matt. 24:29-31
"Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
- The Person of this Judgment is Clearly the Glorified Son of God
Son of Man - All judgment committed to Son. John 5:22, 27
"For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son." "And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man."
In His glory - Coming in clouds with power and great glory. Matt. 24:30
"And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."
- The Position of the Judge is Marked by the Throne upon which He sits
This is the throne of His glory.
This is the throne of David. Luke 1:32; Isa. 9:6-7; 2:2-3
"He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David."
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem."
