The Perfecting of Judgment Upon the World

Vs.17-21

"And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightning; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great."

 

The Seventh Bowl of Wrath

The Object of this Vial is the Air vs. 17

"And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done."

This is due to the fact that the air is full of wicked spirits.

The Announcement is Made that Judgment is Done, Finished, Brought to an End. 17

The Results of Judgment are Universal vs. 18-21

"And there were voices, and thunders, and lightning; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great."

• There was the greatest earthquake ever to be felt in the earth. 18
• The great city was divided into three parts. This city is Babylon, not Jerusalem. All the other cities also fell.
• The islands and the mountains were affected by the earthquake. 20 Thus readjustment of the earth's surface.
• Hail stones the size of a talent fell upon men. cf. Job. 38:22-23. 50 lbs. each. Isa. 24:20 and context. Men are now suggesting that this may be 100 lbs.

The Response of Men is Evidence of Incorrigibility

They blaspheme God. This is not the absolute end, for men still remain to bewail the destruction of the city of Babylon, and events of 19:11-21 must take place
