THE SHEPHERD
Psa. 22-24
The
shepherd work of our Lord has 3 aspects:
1. As the "Good
Shepherd" He gives His life for His sheep. [John 10:11]. “I am the good shepherd: the good
shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” This answers to Psa. 22.
2. As the Great Shepherd brought back from the dead [Heb. 13:20] to care for and make
perfect His sheep. “Now the God of
peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make
you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which
is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory
for ever and ever.” This answers to Psa. 23.
3. He is the Chief Shepherd who is coming in glory to give
crowns of reward to the faithful shepherds [1 Pet. 5:4] “And when
the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that
fadeth not away.” This answers to Psa.
24.
