Exodus Date
1
Kings 6:1 states that : "Now it came
about in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel came out
of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel [967/66
B.C.], in the month of Ziv which is the second month , that he began to build
the house of the LORD." The temple building began 480 years after the
exodus, thus fixing the date for the exodus at about 1446/45 B.C.
Also Judges 11:26
says that: "While Israel lived in
Heshbon and its villages, and in Aroer and its villages, and in all the cities
that are on the banks of the Arnon, three hundred years, why did you not
recover them within that time?"
Jephthah [one of Israel's judges] says
that Israel had occupied the city of Heshboh in the land of Moab 300 years
which were taken by Israel before the invasion of Canaan [cf. Num. 21:25-35]. The possession of
Heshboh occurred approximately 340 years before Jephthah. He judged in 1105
B.C.
