GLORIOUS IS OUR CALLING

THE GLORIOUS NATURE OF THIS "CALL".

    

 As to its source, it is a "Heavenly Calling" - Heb. 3:1

            cf. Heb. 12:18-29

            "Not unto a Mount that might be touched." (18)

            "But...unto Mount Sion...the heavenly Jerusalem." (22)

         As to its Blessings, it is a "High Calling" - Phil. 3:14 

                We are called:

                     To freedom from Law - Gal. 5:13 "Ye have been called unto liberty."

                     To belong to Jesus Christ - Rom. 1:6 "Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ."

                     To the peace of God - Col. 3:15 "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body."

                     To the fellowship of Gcd's Son - 1 Cor. 1:9 "Called unto the fellow­ship of his Son."

                     To God's Kingdom and Glory - I Thess. 2:12 'Who hath called you unto his kingdom   and glory."

           As to its Responsibilities, it is a "Holy Calling" - 2 Tim. 1:9 

                  It is a call:

              To be saints - Rom. 1:7  ".....called to be saints:."

              Out of darkness into God's light - 1 Pet. 2:9  "....him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:."

              Unto holiness - 1 Thes. 4:7 ".....hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness."

              To follow Christ as an example - 1 Pet. 2:21-23 ".....hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,...."

              To walk worthily of our calling - Eph. 4:1.  "...walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called"
